Developing Artist Program Application
2026 Folk Canada Conference

The Developing Artist Program (DAP) is designed to provide structured mentorship, performance opportunities, and valuable industry connections for new generation, emerging artists from across Canada aged 18-25.

Participants will arrive in Hamilton by Tuesday evening, with programming commencing Wednesday morning. Wednesday includes interactive training workshops focused on performance and showcasing, followed by attendance at the International Delegates Reception. On Thursday, participants engage in specialized masterclasses, video production sessions, and one-on-one meetings before joining the general conference programming. Friday features the Developing Artist Showcase, highlighting participant performances during the day. On Friday and Saturday evenings, participants will further integrate into conference events and private showcases.

Folk Canada supports participants by providing hotel accommodations for Tuesday and Wednesday nights and an honorarium through the Taylor Mitchell Bursary to help offset travel and accommodation costs.

Prior to the conference, selected artists will attend an orientation workshop via Zoom. Participants are required to participate fully in all scheduled activities. Failure to attend activities may result in removal from the program and disqualification from receiving the Taylor Mitchell Bursary.

Participants will be selected by a jury of industry professionals based on artistic potential, experience, and enthusiasm for career growth.

Eligibility

Open to residents of Canada aged 18-25. Applicants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the conference.
