Festivals across Canada are facing the challenge of safely and responsibly implementing harm-reduction strategies at their events, particularly when it comes to drug checking. As Canada's substance landscape has evolved in recent years, there are new risks to be aware of and safety measures to implement to ensure festival attendees' safety. This webinar will provide foundational knowledge from experts working in this space to help you navigate the operational and logistical considerations of partnering with mobile drug-checking organizations, how attendees can test their own drugs for dangerous substances, and offer a clear picture of what implementing these services at folk festivals can look like.

Speakers:
  • Hayley Thompson (she/her) Manager of Toronto’s Drug Checking Service, Centre on Drug Policy Evaluation, and Unity Health Toronto at St. Michael’s Hospital

  • Chris Kling (he/they) Drug Checking Program Coordinator with ANKORS (BC)

    • A mobile drug-checking organization based in British Columbia that has worked at festivals like Shambhala.

  • Roxanne Hallal (she/elle) Drug Checking Program Director with GRIP (Montreal)

    • A service that offers on-site drug-checking at festivals in Montreal

There will be a live Q&A session to ask specific questions and gather advice for your particular festival and region.
