Queer Christian Singer-Songwriter Danah-Lee Releases Social Justice – A Hope-Filled Soundtrack for Change

Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter, music educator and church music director Danah-Lee releases Social Justice, a bold album blending pop-inflected songwriting with faith-rooted, LGBTQ2S+-affirming themes. The record pairs anthemic hooks with lyrics that champion belonging, compassion and courageous love.

The album opens with haunting pedal steel, bell-like piano and signature picking by Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Famer Jon Park Wheeler, followed by Danah-Lee’s honeyed, crystal-clear vocals:

In the shadow lands where hope feels thin

I pray Your name like oxygen — Steady on.

The theme is simple but powerful: Steady On. As a queer Christian, Danah-Lee knows firsthand the act of pushing forward in faith while living authentically.

“I wrote Social Justice for anyone who’s ever felt on the margins — of church, of community or of their own story,” she shares. “These songs are prayers, protests and reminders that our best worship sounds like justice, kindness and joy.”

Recorded at More Than A Song Studios, the album blends piano-driven hooks, luminous harmonies, heart-wrenching pedal steel and shimmering guitars. Its narratives explore faith, reconciliation, radical welcome, and everyday hope.

The first single, Even Angels, has spent two months in the Top 10 of Pride Radio Canada’s New Queer Music Chart, and the second single, Steady On, currently sits at #12 nationally.
