Our story is etched into the trails, it’s in the water that feeds the boreal forest and in the blood of the animals that feed us. I have often wondered at the stories of my grandmother and her memories of her parents and grandparents who lived during the end of an era, before there was contact and colonization. What did they see when they looked out onto this land? I turn to a song that my great Grandfather made. With a few short phrases and a melody he captured the profound emotions of connection, loss and true love.
