Freya Milliken: Where I Stand

Described as “a fresh new voice in folk music” (Jan Vanderhorst, Just Us Folk), Nova Scotian singer-songwriter Freya Milliken has been making large strides in her career through emerging artist programs at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and Folk Canada, plus a recent commission for Symphony Nova Scotia. This summer, she is making her debut at Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, NS.

On May 14th, Freya Milliken will be releasing a new single titled “Where I Stand” in anticipation of a lively summer. Produced by Mark Adam, “Where I Stand” has an alt-folk edge not previously heard before, making this release an exciting step forward into what is sure to be a stylistically invigorating era.

“Freya Milliken's craft is what shines every time she steps on stage, from finely-woven lyrics, detailed guitar, and thoughtful arrangements. Yet the warmth radiates through, as Freya opens her heart with a sensitive and responsive worldview. ”

- Terra Spencer

""Freya Milliken is a bright young light with a mature soul, who has stepped up to carry the tradition of storytelling and communion that can only be found in live music. ”

- Sarah Jane Scouten

""Much like Canadian icon Joni Mitchell, Freya is fearless, grounded and stellar all at once.”

- Dave Carmichael - Artistic Director, Deep Roots Music Festival
