Updated: Oct 14

Gabriel Schwartz is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist who masters wind, string, and percussion instruments with virtuosity. His solo album was a finalist for the 2023–2024 Prix Opus in the category “Album of the Year – World Music.”

His new project, Folk-Bossa, is based on the idea of merging North American folk music with Brazilian bossa nova. This blending of two musical worlds reflects a desire to create a bridge between Brazilian and North American cultures.

The quartet, composed of Gabriel Schwartz (flute, saxophone, percussion, 8-string guitar, vocals, and loop station), Dominique Poirier (accordion and guitar), Bianca Rocha (vocals, ukulele, and percussion), and Sacha Daoud (drums), will officially launch their first EP, titled Folk-Bossa.

They invite the audience on a musical journey inspired by traditional Brazilian culture, through a repertoire of songs in Portuguese, French, and English, as well as instrumental pieces.

The result is a sonic experience full of softness and refinement, sometimes contemplative, sometimes light. Gabriel Schwartz performs with rare elegance. Stunning!
