Hayley Bleho: Bethany

The debut single from Montreal singer-songwriter Hayley Bleho, “Bethany” centres around her childhood best friend who moves across the country after elementary school. Across recesses, lunch breaks, and anxiety-filled birthday parties, the lyrics chart the emotional ups and downs and insecurities of a kid struggling for a sense of belonging even before her closest friend is uprooted.

Carried by folk-inflected guitar playing and dreamy alt-rock vocals, and written in the wake of a different kind of loss (that of her mother), "Bethany" captures that desperate longing for connection, and the hollow feeling that comes when that connection moves beyond your reach.

Hayley Bleho is an indie-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist hailing from Montreal, Quebec. With a knack for melody and a nostalgic feel, Hayley’s songs reckon with things said, and things left unsaid, with what-ifs and maybes, bubbling with energy, humour, and emotion. Her debut EP, Rabbit Rabbit, is a raw, guitar-driven exploration of love, grief, and memory. Out everywhere June 12th.
