Josh Ritchie is a born performer. Ever since he could stand, he’s had a guitar in his hands, and it’s exactly where it’s meant to be. The Canadian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist commands the stage with the confidence of a seasoned frontman, blending stadium-rock energy with lyrical depth and purpose.
Growing up BIPOC in Ontario’s Bruce Peninsula, Ritchie developed a deep awareness of the power of art as activism. His 2021 self-titled debut EP explored his experience of identity and belonging, followed by Love at the End of the World (2023), which sold out its launch at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace and gained attention from CBC, Cashbox Radio, Canadian Beats, and more.
With his third album So Much More Than a Dream, Ritchie reaches new artistic heights. The 11-song collection blurs modern rock, experimental folk, and contemporary R&B into a bold, cohesive sound he fully produced himself. “With this record, I learned how to use the studio as an instrument,” he says.
At its heart, So Much More Than a Dream is a concept album tracing a young adult’s search for peace and purpose in a chaotic world, a journey that mirrors Ritchie’s own. From the soul-searching first single “Numb” to the intimate “Vancouver” and defiant “Small Town Boys,” each track showcases his range and emotional honesty.
Ritchie’s art is fearless, intentional, and deeply human—crafted with purpose and powered by conviction.
