Monet & Christian: Respite

ree

Release: November 25

Monet & Christian’s new single, “Respite” hits harder than some of the duo’s previous work, but despite this, the song, at it’s core, is about softness. The lyrics were written at a time when the duo was feeling pulled in many different directions both creatively and personally, and were finding themselves looking for a soft place to land. Lyricist Monet Comeau was inspired to write this song around how being home in her home-province of New Brunswick made her feel in a time when the future felt uncertain.

Monet & Christian are a Canadian folk duo hailing from Saint John, New Brunswick and Toronto, Ontario respectively. The duo originally met while studying theatre in Toronto at the Randolph College for the Performing Arts back in 2016. After moving to England together to get their Masters degrees from the Guildford School of Acting, the pair graduated during the pandemic, and began writing songs together to keep themselves creative while in lockdown. When the world began to open up again, they decided to take their act to the high seas, and began performing on cruise ships in the summer of 2022. Their first single, “Stuck”, was released in November of 2022, with their self-titled debut EP arriving in April of 2023. Since then, Monet & Christian have moved back to Canada, and have performed in venues and festivals all over the country between continued stints on cruise ships. Monet & Christian are so excited to be back releasing new music, with their new single, “Respite” is scheduled to release on November 25th, 2025, followed by another EP on January 1st, 2026.
