Naghmeh (she/her), an Iranian-Canadian singer songwriter based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, is set to release her latest single, “The Situation”, on February 19 across all streaming platforms. This song is dedicated to anyone who struggles in the capitalistic and neurotypically inclined 9-5 work infrastructure and fantasizes about leaving it behind to pursue their dream and reclaim their sense of self.
"A few years ago, I lived in San Francisco and felt crushed under the pressures of a stressful job and a toxic work environment. I was headed straight for a burnout. Everything I loved about myself and my free spirit seemed like a problem. Torn between leaving behind the Californian dream and trying just a bit harder to fit into the mold, one night I asked myself: have you lost your mind? I invited this inner monologue to reveal itself and say what I couldn’t say out loud through a song."
Naghmeh has brought this song to life with her current bandmates: Rebecca Field on drums, Daniela Rivera on bass, Adrian Foster on modular synthesizers and piano, Mary-Kate Edwards on back vocals, and herself playing guitar and vocals.
