Noah Malcolm: Cereal

Through Antidote Artists, Noah Malcolm released his warm and wistful single “Cereal”.

First love stays with you. “Cereal” is a delicate indie-folk meditation on its magic and messiness. When Noah sings “Cereal”, he pictures the mattress on the floor in his first apartment in Charlottetown. He was finishing up his degree in music, and underneath the weight of coursework, part-time jobs and a fractured family life after coming out. He would return to his small bedroom and his partner—his first serious relationship. It was a safe space at a time when it was sorely needed. But eventually the relationship’s flaws surfaced. Cracks in his first love grew. Noah wrote “Cereal” years later, able to look back with gratitude and recognize the challenges of being in love. Co-produced with Jake Charron of The East Pointers, it's a poignant song with revealing lyrics and an intimate rendering, a perfect pairing for the autumn season.

A queer singer-songwriter who straddles folk and indie pop, Noah Malcolm has received four Music PEI Awards, two ECMA nominations and played the stages of M for Montreal, NXNE, Lunenburg Folk Fest, Cavendish Beach Music Festival, and the PEI Symphony. As a songwriter with CYMBA Publishing, he's written with artists like David Archuleta and Rose Cousins, participated in songwriting camps in Madrid and Helsinki, and composed for screen, including the feature film "Who's Yer Father?".
