"Lethbridge, Alberta–based singer/songwriter Olson (Jen Misura) officially released her debut EP, Grounded. Produced by Paul Zacharias of Wheelhouse Sound, the release introduces Olson as a compelling new voice in folk music, delivering songs rooted in emotional honesty, thoughtful storytelling, and quiet resilience.
At the heart of the EP is the title track, Grounded; a song that is garnering airplay on independent radio. Through rich melodies and vivid imagery, it tells the story of a bird navigating hardship and uncertainty—an enduring symbol of perseverance and hope. The song’s striking harmonies, supported by Calgary musician Ainslie Ayres reinforces the EP’s balance of vulnerability and strength.
The title of the EP grounded exists in a dual space throughout each song. It reflects moments of stillness, when progress feels stalled and the weight of the earth holds you in place. At the same time, it speaks to the inward work that happens there—pressing deeper into the self, uncovering identity beneath the surface, and building a foundation strong enough to endure.
