Steven Taetz has made some innovative artistic projects, and his latest is bearing FRUIT, his latest EP.
This latest collection studio recordings includes roots-pop material that Taetz has written including the title track featuring JUNO-nominee Tafari Anthony, the lead single "Golden One" featuring Lucas Silveira , and a cover of "Heroine" -- originally released 25 years ago by Wild Strawberries who Taetz wrote one of his first songs with -- with this latest version recorded alongside JUNO-recognized Lydia Persaud (solo artist, and lead member of Dwayne Gretzky). The EP was produced with Daniel Ledwell, Jim Bryson, Sarah MacDougall, and Nick Tateishi, and it includes tender moments marking major transitions in life, and celebrations of queer perspective and universal themes.
This EP follows his 2023 album of contemporary roots love songs from a queer perspective called "Late Bloom" which was nominated for 2024 Canadian Folk Music Emerging Artist of the Year and Ontario Folk Music Award's Album of the Year, and also follows a well-received 2024 Christmas album.
Steven has shared the stage with Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, Mel B (Spice Girls), Blue Rodeo, Dragonette. Upcoming summer performances include stops in Toronto, Brighton, Kingston, North York, Newmarket for York Pride, and Guelph for Hillside Festival.
