Merch Girl Records Announces VANCAMP’s New EP, House Parties in the Avenues
Merch Girl Records is proud to announce House Parties in the Avenues, the new EP from Peterborough-based indie pop-rock band VANCAMP.
Written by frontman Calvin Bakelaar in the years following university and during the uncertainty of the pandemic, the record reflects the disorientation of small-town life in your twenties. Across the collection, VANCAMP explores strained friendships, people-pleasing, broken promises, and the restless feeling of wanting to escape a place you had wanted to be only moments before.
Blending indie rock, folk, pop, and modern country influences, House Parties in the Avenues pairs personal storytelling with energetic full-band arrangements and memorable choruses. The EP was produced by Tristan Konkle and recorded at Electric Alchemy Studio in Peterborough, Ontario.
Named Emerging Artist of the Year (2024) by the Peterborough Folk Festival and an alumnus of the Mariposa Folk Festival, VANCAMP has performed more than 100 shows across Ontario and Quebec since 2022. The five-piece has built a reputation for live performances that move between stripped-down intimacy and high-energy, communal moments.
House Parties in the Avenues marks a new chapter for VANCAMP and continues Merch Girl Records’ commitment to supporting independent Canadian artists rooted in honest songwriting, community, and a DIY spirit.
