Warning: Fake Folk Canada Profiles Selling Registrations and Booth Space

Updated: Jul 28

We've been made aware of several social media profiles impersonating Folk Canada. These fake accounts are contacting folks to sell conference registrations and booth space that don't exist. We've found these fake profiles on facebook, jotform, and eventbrite.

These profiles are not us. Don't send them money, and don't share your payment or personal information with them.

How to spot the fakes:

Our real profile has a long history of posts and updates, thousands of them, and over 5,000 followers. If an account claiming to be Folk Canada looks new, has few posts, or has a small following, it isn't us.

The only place to register:

Registrations are only sold through www.folkcanada.com. We will never ask you to register or pay through a direct message, a third-party link, or any other website.

How to verify you're talking to us:

Every Folk Canada staff member and contractor uses an email address ending in @folkcanada.com. If someone reaches out from any other email domain claiming to represent us, treat it as a red flag.

What to do if you spot one:

If you come across one of these impersonator accounts, please report it to the social media platform directly. Reporting these profiles helps get them taken down and protects other members of our community from being scammed.

We know these scams are frustrating, and we're sorry for the extra caution this requires. Thank you for looking out for our community; don't let the robots win!

If you have questions or want to confirm whether a message is really from us, contact us directly at joel@folkcanada.com.
