Aaron Lightstone is a bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, certified music therapist, and Registered Psychotherapist. Aaron is best known as the founder, band-leader, guitarist primary composer and oud-player of Jaffa Road, one of Canada’s leading intercultural ensembles. Under Aaron’s leadership Jaffa Road has achieved many accolades, awards, grants & tours, including two Juno nominations, a Canadian Folk Music Award, and Recording Artist of the Year at the Ontario Folk Music Awards.
In addition to his work as a music therapist, producer, and bandleader he is also a founder and director of the Canadian Musician Royalty Collection Initiative (CMRCI).

CANADIAN HERITAGE IN THE MULTICULTURAL AND ANTI-RACISM PROGRAM - OTTAWA

Alka was at Folk Music Ontario as the Executive Director starting in 2013 and was there until 2021. Prior to that, she worked as the Interim Executive Director at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival and spent many years as the Senior Manager of Operations with the Toronto International Film Festival. Alka has worked at CBC Radio as the Associate Producer for Outfront and in campus/community radio in Ottawa, Guelph and Toronto. Alka currently works as the Senior Program Advisor with Canadian Heritage in the Multicultural and Anti-Racism Program. You can also hear her once a month on the radio program, This Island Earth, on CKCU-FM in Ottawa.

STARBELLY JAM MUSIC FESTIVAL - CRAWFORD BAY

Amanda Hulland is the Artistic Director of the Starbelly Jam Music Festival, a beloved Crawford Bay, BC event celebrating music, community, and joy. Her journey with Starbelly began in 1999 as a patron, sparking a deep connection to the East Shore’s natural beauty and inspiring her move to the area in 2001. From 2000 to 2008, Amanda performed on the Starbelly stage with the Kootenay Hipnotics Belly Dance Troupe and as a featured dancer with live bands. She began volunteering in 2008, contributing her finance background while also curating workshops, kids’ shows, and music programming. Amanda served on the board as Secretary (2010–2011, 2013–2015), President (2021–2023), and now Vice President. Since 2018, she has guided the festival’s artistic vision, helping it remain a “just right” gathering—balancing great entertainment, community spirit, and a safe, welcoming vibe. Her dedication continues to shape Starbelly as a cherished celebration of life.

Amie Therrien leads the MMF Canada team, supporting managers and self-managed artists with professional development, networking, and mentorship opportunities. MMF Canada is the collective voice for Music Management in Canada.
Amie also ran Balsam Pier Music, an artist management and development company where she primarily worked with folk, roots, and Americana artists. She is a member of the Toronto Music Advisory Council, served nine years on the Folk Music Ontario board, worked for Coalition Music, Folk Alliance International, and is an alumni of the Artist Manager Program with Canada’s Music Incubator.
Amie is based in Toronto and is the President of the Toronto & York Region Métis Council, a kayaker, a meditator, a Métis beading artist, a newbie jigsaw puzzler, and a recovering civil engineer.

For over a decade, Andrew Karis (he/him) has dedicated his career to helping recording artists understand and access the rights and royalties available to them in Canada and internationally. At ACTRA RACS, he has held a variety of roles—including Senior Administrator and Manager—leading to his current position as Associate Director. In this role, he oversees day-to-day operations and supports the organization’s ongoing service to performers.
Andrew’s broader experience in the music industry includes working with music union residuals, music supervision, event planning, and performing.

Anita Cazzola is a lover of strings of all sorts. She strokes guitar and banjo strings along with her sister Liv in their post-folk band, The Lifers. She spins, weaves, and dyes natural fibers in her art practice. And she pulls threads back together again through Mani D’oro (est. 2021), her textile repair service. All of these practices are rooted in deep care, and work to reframe processes of disintegration as resilience.

Bill Garrett is a veteran of the Canadian folk music scene having worked as musician, producer and a founding partner of Borealis Records. He also spent a number of years as a CBC Radio producer where he produced countless sessions both live and in-studio. It was that experience that led Bill to became completely focused on studio recording. To date he has produced more than 65 folk, blues and jazz recordings. Most recent projects include Mamas Broke, James Keelaghan and the Durham County Poets.
Apart from his production work Bill writes and performs with his wife Sue Lothrop.

Braden Phelan is a Guelph-based singer-songwriter, community-builder, and wannabe gardener. Through involvement in diverse and dynamic creative and administrative projects, he has found that each collaboration informs the next. Whether it be performing and recording with acts Tragedy Ann or The Lifers, curating concerts through the Yukon Gold Folk Club, or sitting on the Guelph Arts Council Board of Directors, bringing out the best in others brings out the best in him. Through these musical projects he has been privileged to tour across Canada and internationally, playing festivals, folk clubs, and Belgian equine centres (just once) alike. With experience in production, recording engineering, tour booking, film photography and live sound, Braden brings a DIYT (“Do It Yourselves, Together”) mentality to every aspect of his work.

Brian Tremblay watched a hockey player who was boarding at his house play guitar along to B.B. King records. He immediately asked his parents for a guitar. Due to a hand injury that caused him issues when playing guitar, Brian stopped and started with his music. Tremblay’s music has reached around the globe. In 2023, his single, The Painter, hit #2 on the Radio Alliance Top 10 chart for Banks Radio Australia the week of December 23, and his single, I Walked for Miles debuted at #3 on March 15, 2024, on Valley FM 89.5 Austrailia. His album, In the Tracks of the Black Bear, hit #24 on CFUR’s Weekly Top 30 on February 11, 2025.

Brianna Lizotte is a JUNO nominated fiddle player currently living in Edmonton Alberta. Caroline Marie Brooks, perhaps best known as 1/3rd of Juno-award and CFMA winning folk-pop trio Good Lovelies, has been writing songs and melodies for as long as she can remember. Learning to sing harmony with her mother and sister, and strumming chords on her father’s beautiful old Martin, Caroline naturally turned to songwriting to express the everyday. That’s where her songwriting lives; open to each passing moment, and wide-eyed in wonder at this miracle that is life, even in the mundane.
After many years of recording and touring with Good Lovelies Caroline released her first solo album, “Everything at the Same Time” in 2021, inspired by the inevitability of time passing from the vantage of motherhood and middle age and the desire to stay present through all of it. Caroline is a co-chair of the Mariposa Folk Festival Climate Action team, a co-founder of the Canadian chapter of Music Declares Climate Emergency, and the Artistic Director of the Restoration Music & Nature Festival in the Almaguin Highlands. She is a mom to two beautiful kids, and lives with her family in Toronto and Burk’s Falls, Ontario.

Ceilidh Wood (she/her) comes from a theatre and performance studies background. With Ontario Presents, Ceilidh manages the Slow Touring Project, and has coordinated many programs to support the dissemination of underrepresented performing arts, including TYA, theatre, and world music. Outside of work, she co-created the activist group ACMJIS (Artists for Climate & Migrant Justice and Indigenous Sovereignty), and sits on the board of the More Co-operative Housing Collective. Ceilidh has a complex chronic illness and is interested in incorporating themes of crip time and resistance to urgency culture into her work and art.

She is also the owner of an independent label, committed to elevating underrepresented voices in music. Drawing from her dual expertise as an artist and therapist, Cindy brings a trauma-informed perspective to every stage she steps onto—whether performing, facilitating, or advocating for change. At the heart of her work is a belief in the power of music to connect, empower, and restore.

Cheryl studied classical percussion at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where she is from. She spent many years in NY City where she honed her skills as an accompanist. She has toured with artists such as Garnet Rogers, Eric Andersen, Tracy Grammer and more. She is a founding member of the Celtic Roots band RUNA. Cheryl spent 15 years helping to run the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) conference while living in Philadelphia, PA. Cheryl is the current Board President. In 2018, Cheryl moved back to Canada and is the Artistic Director of the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival and College in Goderich.

Claudia Balladelli is the co-founder and executive director of Axé Worldfest, a nonprofit organization that foregrounds the voices and musical works of Black, Indigenous, newcomer, 2SLGBTI+ individuals, artists with disabilities, and those who face increased systemic barriers to presenting their work. Along with her team she also curates and produces Empowering Women in the Music Industry, a conference for women in the music industry presenting its fifth edition on May 8 to 10, 2025. In 2023, Claudia also joined forces with fellow Brazilian colleagues to co-found Saravah, a nonprofit organization to promote the culturally diverse heritage of their homeland, Brazil, as well as to support newly emigrated Brazilians in Ottawa. Balladelli was born and raised in Londrina, Brazil and has resided in Canada for more than 20 years, working as a music programmer, publicist, and artistic director at Mercury Lounge until 2021. She speaks four languages and actively participates in international markets and conferences as a juror, exhibitor, trainer, non profit leader and representative (Womex, Circulart, Porto Musical, SIM, Dakar Music Expo, etc). Recently she co-moderated a Women’s affinity group at Folk Alliance International in Montreal. Claudia is the co-chair of Women in Music Canada / Ottawa Chapter and she also serves as a member of the Ottawa Nightlife Council.

Corbin Murdoch is an arts leader who currently serves as Executive and Artistic Director of the Dawson City Music Festival. Born in Vancouver, BC, on the unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Səl̓ílwətaʔ, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm Nations, Corbin relocated to Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory in June 2023 and now calls Dawson City home. With over two decades of experience as a programmer, manager and producer, he has worked with a range of arts organizations across the country, including The Vancouver East Cultural Centre, Theatre Replacement, and The River Clyde Pageant. At DCMF, Corbin was instrumental in the creation of Goldensides Studio, a community-driven recording studio and creative hub.

Chris Greencorn is an arts administrator and academic based in Kingston, Ontario, with lifelong involvement in the Canadian folk music scene. Raised in Canso, Nova Scotia, Chris grew up at the heart of the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, progressing from volunteer to staff, and eventually serving as Artistic Director for the 2019 and 2020 events, where he booked the festival’s first gender-balanced lineup. He has also served on the board of Home Routes/Chemins Chez Nous (2018-2021) and juried for several industry organizations. Chris holds a master’s in ethnomusicology from the University of Toronto and is pursuing a PhD at Queen’s University, studying Canadian women folklore collectors.

David Alexander Gómez Cadavid is the Director of Tourism for Envigado, Colombia. He is a cultural manager, festival producer, and advisor to artists and public institutions. He has led major cultural events in Medellín and has represented Colombia in international missions and forums across countries such as South Korea, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, the United States, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates (Expo 2020 Dubai). He is also the lead vocalist and artistic director of Zafarrancho, a tropical fusion band with five international tours. David bridges music, cultural heritage, and tourism, promoting Latin American identity through both live performance and public leadership. His work combines strategic vision and artistic passion to foster cultural exchange and innovative tourism development.

Dwayne has more than 20 years of experience in the arts as well as in the corporate and entertainment sectors. In 2016-17, he was Executive Director of the Nia Centre for the Arts, a youth arts organization focused on helping young Black artists. From 2013 to 2015, Dwayne was the Executive Director of Manifesto Community Projects, where among his achievements he produced Canada's largest hip-hop and urban arts festival at Yonge & Dundas Square in Toronto. Now with the Ontario Arts Council since 2020, Dwayne is a Cross-Sectoral Associate Officer.

LIVE FROM THE ROCK FOLK FESTIVAL - THUNDER BAY

Elly is a founding member of the Sleeping Giant Folk Music Society in Thunder Bay, ON, and has served as its Administrative Coordinator for over 20 years. In this role, she is primarily responsible for selecting and contracting performers and maintaining the organization’s corporate and financial records. Elly has also volunteered in various capacities for the Live from the Rock Folk Festival, including as Hospitality Coordinator, Sponsorship Coordinator, and part of the cleanup crew. During the COVID shutdown, when Live from the Rock could not hold its annual festival, an ad hoc group in Thunder Bay organized four alternative events curated by Elly. The purpose of these events, supported by the Sleeping Giant Folk Music Society and Canadian Heritage, was to raise funds for the Live from the Rock Folk Festival. After the shutdown, Jean-Paul De Roover, the volunteer Artistic Director of Live from the Rock Folk Festival, expressed his intention to step down and asked Elly to consider taking on the role. After shadowing Jean-Paul for six months, Elly became the Acting Artistic Director in April 2023 and was officially appointed as Artistic Director in September 2023. Elly has attended the annual Folk Music Ontario (FMO) Conference many times and always looks forward to rekindling friendships and making new acquaintances.

CANADIAN LIVE MUSIC ASSOCIATION - OTTAWA

President & CEO of the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA) since its inception in 2014, Erin Benjamin has worked in the music industry for 30 years. Originally as a touring and recording singer/songwriter and then as executive director of FMO and the Canadian Association for the Performing Arts. An unflagging champion of the sector, Erin has led major industry research projects that have changed how government understands live music, including the first-ever economic impact analysis of the industry, Hear and Now. Currently a board member of the United Way, Erin has sat as a board member with the Ottawa Board of Trade, as chair of the Unison Fund – Canada’s leading music industry charity, Folk Alliance International, the Songwriters Association of Canada, the National Arts Centre’s Creation Fund, RBC Ottawa Bluesfest, the Ottawa Film Commission and others.
Erin is the proud recipient of multiple awards including the Changemaker of the Year honour (WIMC, 2024), Estelle Klein Lifetime Achievement Award (FMO, 2023), the Spirit of Folk Award (FAI, 2022), the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario’s Resiliency Award (2021), the United Way’s Community Ambassador Award (2019), and the Ontario 150 Award (2017), all in recognition of her service to community.
ELLORIE MCKNIGHT

Dr. Ellorie McKnight (she/her) is a climate change researcher and educator, as well as a singer-songwriter and old time fiddler. Her climate background includes a BA Honors in Environmental Studies and Biology (University of Ottawa), and a PhD in Ecology and Climate Change (University of Alberta). She currently works as Outreach Climatologist with Yukon University, where her research focuses on climate change education and communication. Ellorie is also the Environment and Climate Change Advisor for Take Me Outside, a national non-profit aiming to transform education through outdoor learning. Ellorie’s research and teaching philosophies emphasize awareness, worldviews, and climate action using systems-thinking and justice-centered approaches. Her songwriting also reflects these philosophies, and she is increasingly curious about opportunities for weaving together her music and climate work.

Eve Goldberg has worn many hats in the folk music world. Known for her watercolour voice and solid instrumental style on ukulele and guitar, she is a compelling writer and interpreter (and popular teacher!) whose music spans folk, blues, country, swing, bluegrass, and gospel. She has released three solo albums and is a member of the award-winning folk/roots duo Gathering Sparks. She helped found ArtsCan Circle and Common Thread Community Chorus of Toronto, and was one of the organizers of The Woods Music and Dance Camp for over twenty years. She is also past President of AFM Local 1000, the Traveling Musician’s Union. In 2021 she was recognized with the Estelle Klein Award for her contributions to the folk music community in Ontario.

COLDSNAP / CANMORE FOLK FESTIVAL

Fraser Hayes serves as the General Manager for the Canmore Folk Festival and the Artistic Director for the Prince George Folkfest Society (Coldsnap Winter Music Festival). At Canmore, Fraser directs all operational aspects of the festival, from financial oversight and contract negotiations to site and safety management. As Artistic Director for Coldsnap, he draws on his passion for curation to bring world-class artists to northern BC, while actively creating performance and touring opportunities for emerging musicians. With over a decade in arts administration, his experience also includes managing community radio and artist representation. All the while I've also worked in childcare for 15+ years. Most recently I've had my first baby and am making quick work of raising him to be a folk fest kid. Blending these passions together to lead the peer to peer caregiver/parent session will be a treat.

Gianna Antonacci’s passion for music and supporting those who make it drives all that she does. She currently holds the position of Programs Manager at Canada’s Music Incubator, where she develops and executes professional development programming for artists and managers across Canada. Gianna previously supported music initiatives at various arts organizations such as Choirs Ontario and Harbourfront Centre. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education and has over ten years of experience as an arts educator. As a vocalist, Gianna has toured Canada, the US, Mexico, Italy, the UK, and Japan. You can currently find her singing with indie-soul singer-songwriter, Jeremy Voltz, and vocal ensemble, Countermeasure. In her spare time, she writes plays very, very slowly.

Jason Williams is the Artistic Director/producer of Wild Mountain music festival. He has been there since the inception of the festival. Wild Mountain is a three day camping festival in the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains just about on the border of Jasper National park. It's always the third weekend in July and hire roughly about 21 artists each year.

Jaymie (she/any) is the in-house graphic designer and Program Assistant at Folk Canada as well as the new co-owner and manager of Old School Bluegrass Camp. They were previously based in Toronto, steeped in its bluegrass and old time music scene. She is now living in the Ottawa Valley and is building a new music community there. While not being a musician themselves, they have always been committed to promoting and supporting live music as well as musicians' livelihood.
Her current clientele and work focus heavily on album artwork, merch design, and branding design for music industry projects.

Jim Bryson is a National Folk Award nominated Canadian Singer-Songwriter and Record Maker.
He has released a number of recordings in all kinds of popular formats and in places all over the map. His most recent project is “Combinations 1+1”, a “rotating cast singles project” which debuted with Jason Tait and John K Samson this last September of 2024.
Aside from singing and strumming his own golden hits, Jim produces records out of his Fixed Hinge Studio Recordings shed. His production work has been acknowledged by The Juno Awards, The Canadian Folk Music Awards and The Americana Music Awards.
In Jim’s former lives, he traveled extensively as a side player for artists such as Kathleen Edwards, The Weakerthans and The Tragically Hip.
Jim lives with his partner and children in his old family homestead in the once quaint Stittsville, Ontario.

Jon is the founder and Executive Director of Les Scènes de Musique Alternatives du Québec (Les SMAQ), the association representing independent music venues across the province. He also founded Indie Montréal, a company that provides promotional and administrative services for the cultural sector. As an independent promoter, he has presented over 2,000 shows featuring both emerging and established artists. In 2018, Jon co-founded franconnexion.info, Canada’s French-language music trade press and professional development company for Quebec and Canadian francophone music industry professionals. He serves on the boards of Compétence Culture, the CDCE, Quedec's English Language Arts Network and the Canadian Live Music Association, where he also serves as vice-chair.

Julie Fowler is a founding member of the BC Music Festival Collective and became the Executive Director in January 2024. She has helped to start three festivals: the Art Matters Festival at Concordia University (2001); the ArtsWells Festival in Wells, BC (2004-2020); and a new festival in Penticton called Ignite the Arts (2022-present). She has consulted for other festivals including 2 Rivers Remix and is on the board of Folk Canada and the Dream Café. She has worked on climate and environmental issues for over 30 years as an activist, educator, and naturalist. Kim holds two Environmental Studies degrees from York University and is a recipient of the national David Suzuki teaching award and an ETFO environmental leadership award. She co-founded the Canadian chapter of Music Declares Emergency, connecting her passions for music, climate, and education. The organization supports the Canadian music industry in addressing the climate crisis. Kim has also worked as a music manager and organized the first Canadian Music Climate Summit. She is now a key voice in Canada on sustainable practices in the music industry.

King Kimbit is a performance artist based on unceded Algonquin territory (Ottawa), passionate about empowering youth, community care, and sharing love through writing, reciting, and the abolition of punitive, carceral institutions.
King has shared her work across Turtle Island, Jamaica, and Vietnam. In 2017 King released her debut album Life Lessons Poetically, and in 2018 she joined Jo-Anne Bryan, Carmelle Cachero, and Jordan Samonas, as a writer and the vocalist for their group, Speaking Vibrations. In the same year, King co-founded Cap City Cyphers with 4theworld and Kevin Bourne of Shifter. Her newest release Fk12frfr Pt. II is streamable everywhere. King is now working on an arts education program called WritersBlock.

Lisa Iwanycki is an award-winning composer and sound healer from Montreal. She formed the feminist pop punk band Creature (Universal Music) and Blood and Glass (Simone Records). She composes music for TV and co-writes songs with notorious artists. Her solo work blends chamber pop with a deep commitment to creating spaces for healing. Her EP, 'Imaginary Friend,' won her Best Emerging Artist at SuperFolk Sessions and 1st prize at NYC's SilverSound Showdown. She has toured with Patrick Watson, The Barr Brothers, and Little Scream. Lisa is a core member of Chorus of Courage: Music for Survivors of Trauma. She is active in creating installations of choirs, sound baths and immersive concerts, uniting listeners into a place of peace; a church of sound.

An anthropologist with a Master's degree in Communication, he specializes in research, management, and cultural production. He has participated in numerous interdisciplinary and applied research projects. He is the director of the Fluvial music conference, and the coordinator of the Management and Outreach department of the Museological Directorate at the Universidad Austral de Chile, where he also teaches for the Master's program in Tourism. He is a founding partner/director of IMICHILE and director of the Discos Tue Tue label. He has spoken at international congresses, seminars, and conferences, including SXSW (USA), the International Indigenous Music Summit, Sunfest, Global Toronto, Mundial Montreal, Prismatic Arts Festival (Canada), Monkey Week (Spain), and Linecheck (Italy). He also actively participates in numerous forums to promote artistic collaboration and circulation at the Pan-American level, including The Eagle Meet The Condor network. He currently directs the FIC Creative and Tourism Pole project in Los Ríos, Chile.

Marie Boillon (she/her) is the Artistic Coordinator at MIFO (Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans), a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote Francophone culture through a wide range of educational, artistic, and community activities. She also serves on the board of Axé WorldFest as Secretary and Artistic Coordinator, supporting equity-deserving artists from across the globe and providing a platform for those who face barriers to presenting their work. Originally from France, Marie has lived in Madagascar, Angola, and London before settling in Canada. Fluent in French, English, and Portuguese, she brings her international experience to the local arts scene. A musician since childhood, Marie began playing violin at the age of six, studied at a conservatory, and performed as a singer on stage. Over time, she discovered a deep passion for identifying and nurturing artistic talent, which now drives her work in cultural programming and community engagement.

Maureen Pollard is a registered social worker with more than 34 years in the field. As a grief and trauma specialist, Maureen’s work often incorporates therapeutic expressive arts activities designed to help people navigate their experience when the worst case scenario comes true.
Maureen first came to understand the healing power of writing and songwriting as part of her own self care strategy. As founder of the Write to Heal program, Maureen has been facilitating therapeutic writing and songwriting workshops at conferences and for organizations across North America for almost 10 years.
In 2025, she released Heart Work: The Transformative Power of Story and Song: a Memoir and Guide, along with a separate workbook that includes 28 guided writing exercises designed to support people who want to write to heal.

Nadia Kharyati is a Communications Strategist at the National Arts Centre for Popular Music & Variety. She works in tandem with the marketing department to present over 100 performances per season showcasing Canadian and international artists. Nadia previously worked for Folk Music Ontario (now Folk Canada) and Folk Alliance International. In her former life she also owned and operated a small venue in Ottawa called Raw Sugar Cafe for 8 years. The cafe hosted a variety of events which included live music. The venue was a community hub and became known nationally in the music community as one of the small venues that supports emerging indie artists (and for the delicious butter tarts).

Neil is a UK based artist manager and artist development specialist working mainly in the singer/songwriter, Americana, and folk genres. Through Sounds Just Fine his management clients include John Smith (UK) and Cara Luft, and he also works with a range of US and Canadian clients and organisations on project based artist and market development. He programs the UK showcase rooms at Folk Alliance, and supports all the UK artists attending this annual North American conference; and also programs a year-round concert series in a 105-capacity arts centre in his hometown of Shrewsbury. He is currently working with Miranda Mulholland on a National Creation Fund supported multi-artist Canada/UK commission ‘Letters to the Future’, with shows coming in 2026.

He is the co-founder of the Toronto Folk Festival, which is celebrating its second year on August 23rd and 24th of 2025 on Wards Island. Rachel has a knack for building custom administrative systems and has done advisory work for festivals seeking new CRM's and tech stacks appropriate for their needs. Rachel is currently a Folk Canada board member, serving as the board secretary and on various committees, including the chair of the festivals working group.

Sarah Card is the founder and producer of the Bear Creek Folk Festival, in Grande Prairie AB. The event runs mid August and features over 30 artists from around the world. Headliners have included kd lang, Sarah McLachlan, Blue Rodeo, Jewel, Steve Earle, Feist, and more. Founded in 2016, Sarah has led the charge, including coordinating over 800 volunteers annually, to create the largest tourism draw in the history of the Grande Prairie region. With sellout crowds since 2023 the festival sees 7500+ people on site per day.

Vic Close has spent decades helping shape Calgary’s live music scene. As founder and host of Fish Creek Concerts, now in its 19th season, he’s known for presenting top folk, blues, jazz, world, and roots musicians in welcoming, intimate venues. His path began hosting coffeehouses and community events, and he is one of the founding members of the Nickelodeon Music Club. Vic also served as Artistic Director of the Rocky Mountain Folk Club and has been a board member for the Calgary Folk Music Festival and the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta. He is currently a board member and local chair for the Canadian Folk Music Awards, which will be held in Calgary April 9–12, 2026. From introducing emerging talent to hosting celebrated performers, Vic’s goal remains constant: connect artists and audiences through the shared experience of great live music.
YAHAIRA OSIRIS
MIM LATAM - PANAMA

A human rights and LGBTQ+ activist, Yahaira is a cultural manager and key figure in the Latin American music industry, with over two decades of experience. Founder of AtrapandoSueños and artistic director of YR Promociones & Eventos, she has worked as a manager, representative, broadcaster, promoter, and publicist, consolidating a multifaceted career serving the arts and social transformation. She is the founder of MIM LATAM (Women in the Latin American Music Industry), a pioneering platform for making women and dissidents visible and empowering them in the music industry, where she promotes the Women, Dissidents, Music, and Territory Gathering. She is also the co-founder of CAMM Central America Music Market, a space dedicated to strengthening the connection and circulation of music in Central and Latin America. She participated in the review of the Spotify Party Code 2024 and is an active part of the Keychange movement, supported by the European Union's Creative Europe program. She received the BIME Equity by Amazon Music Award as an Equal Organization for AtrapandoSueños and was recognized by the Mayor's Office of Panama for her valuable contribution to culture and art. From an intersectional perspective and deeply committed to social justice, Yahaira Osiris builds bridges between art, activism, and community, generating more diverse, safe, and representative spaces in culture.
YOLANDE LAROCHE
ARTIST - GATINEAU

Yolande Laroche is a queer Canadian Taiwanese singer-songwriter, clarinetist, keyboardist, producer and DJ based in Gatineau, Quebec. With a Bachelor of Music and a Minor in Arts Administration from the University of Ottawa, she bridges classical training with contemporary innovation.
Releasing her debut album True Beginning with Birthday Cake Records on April 4 2025 under the pseudonym Orchidae, Laroche draws inspiration from her Mandarin name 兰 (Lan), symbolizing the orchid flower. Her music blends avant-pop with her classical roots, creating an intimate and profound sound.
A seasoned music educator and core member of art-rock group Pony Girl and sound-art trio KAY-fayb, Laroche has also performed widely as a session musician. Yolande’s project Orchidae sees the artist in full bloom.
XIN XUAN SONG
VANCOUVER FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL

Born and raised in China, Xin Xuan has made Vancouver (on the unceded and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and Sel̓íl̓witulh) her home for over a decade. She holds a degree in Theatre Production and Design from Simon Fraser University, where she first discovered her interest in stage and production management. Since then, she has built a dynamic career working with multidisciplinary practices across a range of artists and organizations. In her current role as Artistic Associate at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF), Xin Xuan works closely with Artistic Director Fiona Black, overseeing artist logistics and contributing to the festival’s artistic operations. Outside of VFMF, she is the Director of Artistic Planning at Kay Meek Arts Centre with an annual presenting season of over 40 events, spanning music, theatre, dance, film, and lectures.
