Blue Moon Marquee: Come On Down

Writer's picture: Folk CanadaFolk Canada

This is a visual story of resilience and resistance. A Reckoner Spirit appears - raceless and genderless from nowhere and everywhere. The rebels de carnivale gather. The defenders, dream keepers, warriors, revelators , survivors, lovers, reclaimers,

A celebration of resilience. Foul empires crumble. Love wins. And will always win in the end.

This project was a two-year labour of love from conception, writing, consulting, filming, production, and post. Over 100 people were involved who gave time and energy to this piece and its message. So many deep, meaningful discussions from survivors of all forms from all walks of life. It is our intent to show how through hundreds of years of struggle, abuse, repression, violence, healing, rebuilding, reclaiming…. The resilience and spirit are too powerful. The regimes of power, greed and ignorance will never win. There is still so much work to do. It is a time to listen, learn, reflect, and expand our collective consciousness. A time to honour, nurture, respect & heal ourselves, nature, and all living species on this earth. Paradigms shift. Winds of change blowing too strong to deny or ignore any longer. Love will prevail.

Deep heartfelt gratitude to all the souls who gave their time and energy to this project. Especially to Cowichan Tribes, the Hul’q’umi’num people, who have been caretaking this unceded land for thousands of years.

The video was directed by Lindsay Dakin and written by Blue Moon Marquee & Lindsay Dakin with cinematography by Grace Loeppk.
