Brian Tremblay: They Won’t Take Us Alive

"On March 14, 2026, balladeer and songwriter Brian Tremblay will release his first protest song, They Won’t Take Us Alive. The song was written in response to the situation happening in the United States and how the world, in general, has become untenable. “I feel that all musicians should use their voice to speak out against the rise of fascism,” says Tremblay. “Silence is complicity.”

The song is performed as a duet with his wife, Lynn, who was born in the States and has been a Canadian for over forty years. A first for Tremblay is the feature of Ron Dalcin, a local musician and retired teacher, on the tuba. “The songs' old-timey feel just lent it well to an instrument like a tuba,” stated Brian. “It’s just a fun song!”

This is the second single from his upcoming album, Songs for the Modern Cowboy. “The album marks a shift in my songwriting,” remarks Tremblay. “I can’t quite put my finger on it, so I’ll say it appears my songwriting is maturing.” The album contains twelve tracks that slip into his folk/country style that he has been developing. “I’ve done some deep dives into the song catalogues of classic folk musicians like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and made note of style, format and words,” said Tremblay. “Their songwriting and performances are amazing!” This song is also a duet he does with his wife, Lynn. The song is also available on !earshot Distro.  Click here for more info
