Hannah & Nathan: ‘Love and Labour’ Album Release Tour

On May 15th, Hannah & Nathan released Love and Labour, the debut collaborative album from two of Ontario's most respected voices in traditional and folk music. A collection of eight original compositions, two traditional songs, and one contemporary cover, the album is a testament to creative partnership, close-harmony singing, and a shared reverence for the Appalachian old-time and singing traditions that brought them together. The album was co-produced with Jason Mercer on Wolfe Island, with Hannah & Nathan's banjo, fiddle, and harmony singing at the forefront, accompanied by session musicians Gary Craig, Tim O'Reilly, and Jim Bowskill.

Featuring pristine vocal harmonies accompanied by the earthy pulse of fiddle and banjo, Hannah & Nathan weave a rich tapestry of timeless songs and fiddle tunes grown from their love of old Appalachian music. Based in Ontario, Hannah Shira Naiman and Nathan Smith are acclaimed songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, each with a strong national presence in folk music: both are Canadian Folk Music Award winners (Hannah for Traditional Singer of the Year, and Nathan for Instrumental Composer of the Year). Touring as a duo since 2022, Hannah's clawhammer banjo interlocks perfectly with Nathan's fiddle and guitar playing, but their undeniable strength lies in their airtight harmony singing and their lighthearted stage presence.

Hannah & Nathan wish to thank the Ontario Arts Council and the Government of Ontario for their support in bringing this album to life.
