Multi-award winning ensemble The McDades return with “Gardener’s Child,” a vibrant new single that showcases the band’s unmistakable blend of Celtic roots, Canadian folk traditions, and deep groove. Built around a playful, repeating bass line and propelled by a light Texas-mambo, the track feels both timeless and unexpected.
Following the release of “Peggy-O” last month, “Gardener’s Child” offers another window into the band’s evolving sound: rhythm-driven, melodic, and deeply connected to the joy of collective music-making. The arrangement grew organically, expanding from a simple idea into a full-band performance that invites listeners in and refuses to sit still.
“Gardener’s Child” appears on Thread The Light, The McDades’ forthcoming album, set for release on April 30. The album explores themes of connection between family, ancestry, shared experience, and the light we create through music, continuing the group’s long-standing reputation for artistry that is both rooted and adventurous.
